The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that being struck in the eye by an object of flying debris routinely makes the list of the top three most commonly reported workplace injuries. This in turn causes standards in the area of safety to increase dramatically over the years.
Keep your employees safe by providing them with protective eyewear. Let them know that you have their best interest in mind.
What does OSHA require?
• Employees who wear prescription lenses while engaged in operations that involve eye hazards must wear eye protection that incorporates the prescription in its design.
• Eye and face protective eyewear must be distinctly marked to ANSI Z87.1 standards.
• Eyewear must not restrict vision or movement.
• Eyewear must not interfere with any other protective equipment.
