Summer is just around the corner! That means long days, short nights, plenty of warm weather, and numerous outdoor activities. The school will be out, which means there is plenty of free time for activities with family and friends that would normally be put on hold for the school year.
It also means there is more time to make appointments, so here are five of the main reasons you should schedule an appointment with your eye care physician today!
1. More Free Time
During the school year, it can be difficult to find time around extracurricular activities and homework to schedule an eye exam. There is often little time to spare. Even if you have a full-time job, it can sometimes be easier to budget time in the summer months to get your eyes examined. It would be beneficial to get this done before the weather turns cold and snowy so you know you can get to these appointments on time and not worry about being late.
2. Update Your Prescription Before Going On Vacation
Summer is often the time when you and your family can take a short (or long!) vacation. But before you start packing your bags and booking flights, you should consider getting a comprehensive eye exam. In the event that you need a new prescription or a refill on your contacts, it would be in your best interest to see your eye doctor get your vision checked before leaving for an extended period of time. It won’t take very long to get this done, so you should budget an hour or two to get this done before you leave!
3. Get It Done Before The School Year
Having a school, or work can take a lot of time out of your schedule that you could devote to other things, such as doctor appointments. Scheduling an eye exam during the summer is ideal because you’ll be able to devote time to these services that you would normally shirk for your day-to-day responsibilities. It would also be beneficial to do this so that you can get an updated prescription, if necessary before you or your kids go back to school.
4. Everyone Can Go At Once
Finding a time when everyone is available for an eye appointment can be challenging. You would have to work around your schedule and that of the other people in your life, so you may end up going at several different times to cater to everyone’s needs. However, during the summer, it can be much easier to get everyone together at once and all attend appointments on one day.
5. Test Out Contacts/New Lenses
If your prescription changes and you get an update, having downtime during the summer can be a major plus. It can take time for your eyes to adjust to a new pair of frames, or get used to wearing a new pair of contacts, so if you can spare a day during the summer to let your eyes adjust, you definitely should!
