At Bard Optical, great eyesight always starts with one of our comprehensive eye health exams, which give us a detailed view of your eyes and their health. Our eye doctors do far more than simply update your prescription — they also look into the various structures of your eyes to check for any signs of diseases that can affect your eyesight.
Pediatric Eye Health Exam
Children’s eyes are constantly growing and changing, which means they need a slightly different approach to their eye health exams. During our pediatric eye health exam, we check your child’s eyes for conditions and diseases that are more common in younger eyes, including strabismus (crossed eyes), myopia (nearsightedness), and amblyopia (lazy eye).
Contact Lens Exams
Contact lenses require a precise fit and prescription to help you see better, so we offer contact lens exams to get your exact measurements. We’ll map out your eyes during these exams, and check for conditions that could complicate wearing contact lenses, like issues with your cornea, or dry eye disease.

Driving Directions
Our address is 1712 W Reynolds St, Pontiac, IL 61764.
From the north, take IL-17 E until you reach IL-170 S and turn right. Stay on IL-17 E for 7.2 miles, then turn left onto IL-23 S. In about 3 miles, you will pass by Threshermen’s Park on your right. Continue for 4.1 miles then turn right onto Old Rte 66 W. About 500 feet after turning, you will pass La Mex on your left, then in about 0.8 miles, turn right onto Il-116W/1700 N Rd/W Reynolds Street. In 0.8 miles, turn left at Norman Road, then make a right into the parking area in another 300 feet. We’ll be on your right.
From the south, take County Hwy 8/P J Keller Hwy and then turn right to the entrance onto I-55 N when you reach it. After 0.3 miles, merge onto I-55 N. Take I-55 N for 17.7 miles, then use exit 197 for IL-116 toward Pontiac/Flanagan. After 0.3 miles on the exit, turn right onto IL-116 E/1700 N Rd/W Reynolds Street. In about 0.3 miles, you will pass Best Western Pontiac Inn on your left, then immediately after you will pass Driscoll Chevrolet Buick GMC on your right. Then in 0.2 miles, turn right into the parking area, then we’ll be on your right shortly after.
