Warm weather means changing up your winter style – moving from layers, and layers (and more layers, because sub-zero temperatures in the Midwest are no fun), into lightweight, breezy fabrics!
Its the perfect time to start considering smart eye-wear to accessorize your spring and summer looks. At this point, you’re probably used to those chunky plastic wayfarers or shiny aviators (flattering for most faces!), so this year, be bold! Try something new.
1. Sea the Sights
Take a nod from the ocean. Incorporate nude hues or shades of turquoise to emulate a favorite summer past-time of beaches and blue skies. It can easily be worked into a wardrobe, and works with any frame style. Tiffany’s signature blue is a good starting point.
2. Ditch the Color
A popular choice in eyewear right now is selecting a white frame. Its a fresh take on incorporating neutrals with eyewear, moving beyond the black or tortoise-shell brown frames. Its a perfect look to pair with pastels for spring, and it is generally flattering for most skin tones.
3. Go for Bold
Over-sized frames have been a popular choice for women for years. Want to mix it up? Pick a bright color along with a new shape. Moving past the standard square shapes that many default too, instead select a cat-eye or consider adding jewels, studs, or pearls. Feeling really adventurous? Bold color, bold shape, & bold embellishment!
4. Circle back to the Sixties
Every season, it seems as though we take inspiration from the past. For 2015, look to the 60’s. Rounded styles, seen on John Lennon or Jackie Kennedy, are a popular choice. Ray-Ban has a new line of rounded sunglasses out, and many designers are choosing to incorporate the round style into their collections. Be careful if you have a round face, though – this trend may not work with soft or rounded features.
5. Pick a Pattern
Pattern mixing is a fun way to mix up your look. Florals are a spring staple, while stripes and polka dots are a versatile addition. Pair the print with any of the other trends above and really make a statement!
